En octubre de 2017, una terrible oleada de incendios calcinó 49.171 hectáreas en Galicia. En tres días se iniciaron sucesivamente 48, 122 y 45 incendios. Coincidieron un año anormalmente seco y el paso del huracán Ophelia, con rachas de viento entre 60 y 80 km/h. Ponte Caldelas (Pontevedra) fue una de las zonas más afectadas: el 25% de su suelo fue arrasado. En enero de 2018, comenzamos a visitar los montes quemados de aquella comarca con cámara y micro en mano (Enrique y Susana Jiménez Carmona, respectivamente).

In October 2017, Galicia suffered from a wave of fires burning 49,171 hectares. On three consecutive days 48, 122 and 45 fires were started. An extreme dry year coincided with the arrival of Hurricane Ophelia causing gusts of wind between 60 and 80 km/h in many parts of Galicia. Ponte Caldelas (Pontevedra) was one of the most affected areas: 25% of its area was burned. In January 2018, we began to visit the affected area of Ponte Caldelas wildfire with camera and microphone in hand (Enrique and Susana Jiménez Carmona, respectively).
